If the primary source of
cooling fails, a portable air conditioner is designed
to be temporarily installed to relieve the most critical
portions of the air conditioning zones. The term “spot
cooling” refers to cooling only the most sensitive
piece of equipment, zone or area as opposed to trying
to reduce the entire ambient temperature.
Supplementary Air
Conditioners
Areas such as data centres,
LAN rooms or Health Care diagnostic equipment room
(such as MRI machines) traditionally grow their cooling
requirements faster than the base air conditioning
systems can cool. Portable air conditioning is
used to make up localized cooling applied directly
to the source of the heat because they are located
either next to the load or in close proximity. Because
the portable unit is incremental, it can work independently
of the base building system or be interlocked to work
in conjunction with it. |
